Roseland Cottage

“I solemnly promise”

Henry Bowen walked the walk of his temperance pledge, expected anyone on his “premises” to do the same, and hoped his children would too. When Clarence, Henry’s and Lucy’s fifth child, went to Yale, promising to refrain from the use of all intoxicating drink was just the first in a long list of promises he made.
