600 Yards of Boxwood

Henry and Paris Dyer, proprietors of Raspberry Hill Nursery in nearby Brooklyn, Connecticut, sold “600 yards dwarf box edging” to “Henry C. Bowen, Esq.” for a grand total of $75. Roseland Cottage’s parterre today consists of that same six hundred yards. On the back of the record are Bowen’s notes, tracking the $700 he spent for trees on the common, with instructions to keep the record for the future.
