$530 and Change

In November of 1846, the architect Joseph Wells was paid $530.84, according to Bowen’s record. That included payment for roof alterations and expenses. Also on this receipt is a record of a donation to the Union Congregational Church of New York. Edwin Eaton, the builder of Roseland Cottage, was paid $10,000, though we have no receipt for that payment.
