Alice Linden

Lucy and Henry Bowen’s youngest daughter, Alice Linden, was born in 1854. Like her sisters, she was educated at Miss Porter’s Boarding School in Farmington, Connecticut and then attended school in Europe. In 1877, Alice married Rufus Richardson, the Yale College Tutor in Greek working with Alice’s brother, Herbert. The family moved to Athens, Greece in 1890 where Richardson was Director of the American School of Classical Studies for thirteen years. Alice and Rufus Richardson had four children. Upon his retirement, they settled in Woodstock, Connecticut in a home just south of Roseland Cottage. Alice died in 1954.
