Be Fruitful

Bowen’s 1847 order for fruit trees, included seventeen varieties of apples, eighteen varieties of Cherries, nectarines, currants, grapes, quince, plums, pears, and peaches, which the family was especially fond of. In 1845, Downing’s book Fruit and Fruit Trees of America was published. Many of the varieties on Bowen’s order are listed as desirable in Downing’s work.
