Carpet Planting

Roseland Cottage’s garden flows naturally from the house, with the front door opening on the central flower bed. The center oval is traditionally planted with geraniums laid out to resemble a carpet, further connecting the inside with the outside. Geraniums were a favorite flower of Downing’s.
