Roseland Cottage

The Holt Family

In the 1900s, Roseland Cottage was a year round home. Constance and Sylvia Holt were the third generation to enjoy the quiet of rural Woodstock, Connecticut. While the Fourth of July celebrations of Henry and Ellen Bowen’s time were over, the home remained a gathering place for the family. This photograph shows three generations of the Holts on the east lawn of Roseland Cottage. Mary and George are seated in the center with Sylvia and Constance, who is in the dark dress, in the back row.
