Edward Augustus

Edward Augustus, born in 1847, was the second child of Lucy and Henry Bowen. Following completion of his education, he was employed at a variety of businesses in New York City before briefly working as a stock broker. In 1870, just twenty-three years old, Edward (Ned) gave up full-time employment to travel and pursue his interest in genealogy. In 1897, he published Lineage of the Bowens of Woodstock, Connecticut. After the death of Ellen Holt Bowen in 1903, he settled at Roseland Cottage, which remained a family gathering place. Ned was responsible for much of the early twentieth century modernization of Roseland Cottage. He died in 1926.
