Historian

From 1907 to 1931, Clarence was President of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. He was a founder of the American Antiquarian Society, the American Historical Association, and the Connecticut Historical Society. Bowen was the author of The Boundary Disputes of Connecticut (1882) and The History of Woodstock, Conn. Vol 1 to 8 (1926). Clarence Bowen died in 1935. His portrait was painted by English artist Frank O. Salisbury.
