Lucy Maria Tappan

Lucy Maria Tappan married Henry Chandler Bowen in 1844 in New York City. She was born in 1825 and was the daughter of Susanna and Lewis Tappan. Lucy’s father was a New York abolitionist, reformer, and a successful merchant. Her portrait was painted by Francis Bicknell Carpenter in 1859.
