Roseland Cottage

Place Cards

Apparently Constance was having a party. Place cards with pink roses next to the guests’ names sit on her desk. Those guests include Harriet Sampson Pitt, who lived across the common and was one of the first women to serve in the Connecticut state legislature; Mrs. Henry Holt or Margaret, wife of Constance’s brother; Mrs. Richardson—Constance’s Aunt Alice; and Mrs. George Holt or Mary, more familiarly known to Constance as “Mother.”
