Six Children

Mary and George had six children: Hamilton, Grace, Stuart, Constance, Henry, and Sylvia. The family frequently visited the Brooklyn Heights home of Henry and Ellen Bowen. Mary spent several weeks each summer in Woodstock with her children. She is pictured here with a happy Sylvia. It is likely that Mary is in mourning for her brother John Eliot who died in 1890.
