Roseland Cottage

The Pins

Official description in Historic New England’s collections list: “Slender; cylindrical neck; gradual swelling to attenuated bulbous body.” We at Roseland call them bowling pins, and these are made of pine. There is a mark under each pin, shown here, so the person replacing the pins knows where to put them. While we have every bowling ball on display, we do have extra “bulbous bodies” in storage at Roseland Cottage.
