Roseland Cottage

We like to say four presidents . . .

William McKinley, shown here in the annual Independence Day photo from 1891 on the front porch of Roseland Cottage, would be elected twenty-fifth President of the US in 1896. Not yet president in 1891, he had left the House of Representatives and would soon assume the governor’s office in his native Ohio. Henry and Ellen, proud host and hostess, stand behind McKinley.
